MA JOU TAOIST TEMPLES AROUND THE WORLD Currently, with more than 300 million believers, there are tens of thousands of Ma Jou temples in 45 countries and regions around the world, the first one being in Meizhou. In the 1980's, relevant UN agencies awarded Majou the title of "Goddess of Peace". On September 30th，2009 Majou’s faith and customs were recognized by UNESCO and is officially listed as an intangible cultural heritage of mankind.
